Don’t delay in taking advantage of this amazing sale before my third Roxy Summers Mystery book releases in June 2018!

Capture Me will be FREE to anyone on Amazon KDP!
Photographer and sassy Seattle-lite Roxy Summers swears off men after catching her ex-boyfriend, a.k.a. her ex-boss, in a compromising position. Newly single and facing eviction, Roxy puts all distractions (men!) aside as she begins her new job assisting an international fashion photographer and notorious playboy.

No one told Roxy her new job would entail dealing with her new boss’ fiery temper, his emotional girlfriend, his conniving ex-mistress, his partner who has a melt-the-polar-ice-caps blinding smile, have her stumbling over a body, become an amateur detective and find herself annoyingly attracted to Detective Charlie Bennett, who seems determined to put Roxy in handcuffs!

Crush On You will be only $1.99 on Amazon Kindle!
Someone is dishing up trouble.
Seattle sweetie, Roxy Summers, kicks off her new career as a magazine feature photojournalist and blogger with her first assignment, covering a Seattle favorite restaurant while they compete in a televised food competition! Next thing you know, with her besties in tow, Roxy hops a plane to Los Angeles.

Temperatures are rising.
With national fame and fortune on the line, the competition is deadly. With sabotage, a stalker, and a devastating secret that could destroy them all, Roxy soon finds her simple assignment has turned into a twisted labyrinth of betrayal, death threats, and murder.

Things are boiling over.
Even worse, Roxy’s personal life is… complicated. Her sort-of-kind-of-but-not-quite relationship with the sultry and brooding Seattle Detective, Charlie Bennett is on the rocks. To add salt to the wound, her former crush and now boss, joins her on the trip. The cherry on top is the reemergence of her cheating ex, crawling back and begging for another chance.

Roxy needs to sift through the chaos of her relationships and find the culprit destroying the competition before it gets too hot in the kitchen.

Get your copy HERE between October 26-30 for this one-time-only, special deal!

Why? It’s because I love all of you.

Hugs and fantastic fall deals to you,

I liked the comic movies, but now I want to actually read them. Where to begin? (Nerd Hat Blog)

Hello Super Precious Readers!

For those who follow my Twitter and Facebook posts, know that I have a gigantic Nerd Hat and love of comics and graphic novels. I spent many a day reading them when I wasn’t reading books. (I was a sedentary child. Allergic to everything outside and am too uncoordinated to play sports. What else do you want from me?)

I mostly stuck to X-Men and Batman, threw in a few Spiderman, and some Catwoman comics.

For those who are interested in starting your journey to the originals – the actual comics – it’s natural to be curious due to an supersaturated market (see what I did there?). With Marvel dominating the media on both television and screen, uniting series after series together, and DC Comics desperate to catch up to its major rival, comics exponentially growing fan base is desperate to learn more about origins of the artistry, story telling, and illustrated commentary on the human condition.

Where to begin? Do I grab the most recent Batman comic, or X-Men series? (I know I’m committing blasphemous work by combining rivals, but I love both.)

One of the first places that provides a simple guide is this website. It’s literally called “How to love comics.” What could be easier?

Not wanting to join in on the Marvel/DC Comics War? There are SO MANY other choices out there. Try listening to this dude. Below is advice from Professor Thorgi. (Yes, that’s his actual YouTube Channel persona.)  No, there isn’t a specific reason that I chose a video with a dude in it. I’m 100% a believer that women (WOMEN, not “girls.” WOMEN) can equally enjoy the comic book world.

Nope, not this guy:

Or this guy:

This guy:

Professor Thorgi provides advice about non-Marvel/non-DC Comics comic book companies, and guides you on which you would enjoy based on your current flim/tv show preferences.

His video is a bit long, so save it for when you have time to sit down with a glass of Red Shirt Ale. On the plus side, he sounds like the Chocolate Rain Singer, so I laugh while being informed. Please enjoy his video, if only to enjoy that velvety smooth Chocolate Rain voice to sooth your evening blues.

What this all boils down to is, find what you like, and don’t let anyone tell you you’re fake. If you have a love of comics in your heart, whether through actual comic books, graphic novels, or the wave after wave of explosive films in theaters and on television, we nerds/geeks (whichever term you deem more applicable) are happy to welcome you to the family.

Comic book love and hugs,

BIG NEWS! Seriously, I am about to tell you some big news!

Alert! Alert! This is not a drill!

Annyeonghasaeo, Precious Readers! (Hello, Precious Readers!)

I’m in South Korea right now, which is pretty awesome and amazing in itself. (Are you following me on Instagram? There’s Seoul pictures there.)

But… that’s not my news…

MY BOOK IS GETTING PUBLISHED!

I was literally stepping off of the plane into Incheon International Airport when I received the news!

I’ve had to stay quiet until the contract was fully signed. Now that it is, I thought you should know immediately after family was contacted!

Are you doing a happy dance? I am.
Are you dancing with me? Awesome!

It is slated for publication by the end of this year, but we’re pushing to have it ready by the time Emerald City Writer’s Conference 2016 arrives. (Are you going to the Passport to Romance Reader Appreciation Event for #ECWC16? You should be.) I was planning on just attending to get more advice, but now I’ll be attending as a newly published author!

Years and years of hard work have paid off, and you’ve been with me and this blog. So THANK YOU! Whether you’ve read this blog from Day 1, or are a newbie reader (helping me go GLOBAL), I appreciate you taking the time to check out my website, blog, and keep up with my misadventures.

Keep an eye here, on Facebook, Twitter, and my Instagram over the next few months as more details come out.

Thank you to everyone at Trifecta Publishing House for taking a chance on an unknown writer! I look forward to working with you!

Love and hugs to all of you. Gamsamnida!  (Thank you!)

FREE BOOKS – Passport to Romance – Emerald City Writer’s Conference 2015

Greetings Precious Readers!

Today is FRIDAY and I’m loving every minute of it! This week, I made homemade marinara meat sauce (check it out on my Instagram) and have made pasta twice this week-not only because it’s cheap, but because Pilot loves pasta! He’d eat it every day if he could! I swear, Pilot has to be part Italian somewhere in all of that German DNA.

We added a new addition to the family, Lou! He’s a black chihuahua and the fourth member of the Bacher clan. Nimitz is loving being a big brother. After two weeks of having Lou in our family, Nimitz can lay next to Lou without freaking out!

Since it’s Friday, it means it’s almost my favorite day… Saturday! It’s my favorite because you can stay up late with no consequences of being late for any appointments the next day.

Speaking of Saturdays-

Do you like my segue? Huh?

-tomorrow is Passport to Romance: Free Reader Appreciation Event*, during the weekend of Emerald City Writer’s Conference 2015. Due to financial strains, I wasn’t able to attend this year, but their book fair is FREE and they’re giving away books for FREE. Did I happen to mention, FREE BOOKS?

It will be located at the The Westin in Bellevue, WA, and I’ll be there among the crowd. See if you can find me! Authors will be giving away FREE books written by their hands. It’s an amazing and warm group of people. How often do you get to meet the author in person and chat with them? I’m sure I’ll be a babbling, nervous wreck as usual.

Hope to see you there! I’ll post pics on Instagram as I go along, so those of you who are far away can be virtually there with me!

*Passport to Romance: Free Reader Appreciation Event is sponsored by Emerald City Writer’s Conference, Greater Seattle Romance Writers of America, Saranna DeWylde, Gerri Russell: Historical & Contemporary Romance, Lori Lyn, Elizabeth Hoyt, Jami DavenportNight Owl Reviews, Margaret Mallory, and last, but certainly not least as she’s one of my favorites, Sabrina York: Her Royal Hotness!

sharing the wealth, spreading the love

Ok, so I’m a big freaking coward.

Today I did it.

Yesterday, after posting my third blog entry, I hesitated.

If you haven’t noticed, I tend to be scared shitless. A lot. I guess that’s what happens when a facet of you is so personal, and yet not widely accepted as “Ok.” After saying I was going to share this with the world, I didn’t. Today, I had the bravery to move forward with opening my so-called ‘dark side’ to my friends and (some) family, along with fellow writers I’ve been fortunate to meet in my life (whether they were former classmates or favorite authors).

I have been a member of the RWA and GSRWA for over a year now. For those not familiar with the initialisms above, they are the Romance Writers of America and the Greater Seattle Romance Writers of America, the (if you haven’t already guessed) Greater Seattle chapter of the group.

To show that there is a business side to this type of writing, and to prove it’s not just a fleeting, romantic notion, (pun? Get it? Too soon?), I suggest educating yourself with some cold hard math from the RWA’s website.  Or, as one of my all-time favorite romance writers, Katie MacAlister would say, “I point out that romances comprise over half of the mass market paperback market, and that what’s good enough for authors like Nora Roberts and Janet Evanovitch is good enough for me. And then I smile. Knowingly.

Review the stats, let me know what you think. Did you find anything surprising?

Also, consider all of those romantic comedies or romantic dramas you watch. I’ll bet you several, if not most, of them were based on a novel. Look at Nicholas Sparks. He’s made a living writing romance, and most have been turned into mass-marketed films. I’ll bet you’ve even seen one. The Notebook or A Walk To Remember, anyone?

What are some of your favorite romantic films?

My ultimate favorite romantic film is “Sabrina” with Harrison Ford. Mmm Harrison Ford. Yummy. Although I have a soft spot for Bogey and have a huge respect for Audrey Hepburn, the modernized version had music and scenery to die for.

Even if my blog isn’t your cup of tea, I wanted to share some of my favorite websites, blogs and forums that I frequent. Not (completely) on a daily basis.  Ok, maybe daily.

  1. Romance the Genres
  2. Smart Bitches, Trashy Books
  3. Romantic Geek Girl
  4. Book Chic City

These are real people, with real lives, all sharing a common interest. Like cooking or knitting. Ok, way sexier and hotter than cooking or knitting, but I’m sure in one of my future novels I’ll find a way to make those entertainingly sexy.

And below to stretch my literary mind:

Daily Writing Challenge

Day 3: Think about the character you created for Day 2. Write their seven-word biography.

What happens when you live life twice?
